This piece was more solid than I expected and seemed to be well put together. There was just a slight crooked door when the armoire was shut but I wonder if that was the way someone put it together or if it was a structural flaw. The slides were smooth on the pull outs. Areas for storage were adequate. The open area at the top was good for visual interest, saved the piece from looking like just a box. The color was an attractive washed black. It was a very nice piece of furniture that would have fit well in our living room/family room. I would have bought this piece for the price (anything <$500) but the doors did not fold out of the way. This caused a somewhat cavelike claustrophobic feeling and extended the piece out into the room another estimated 1.5 feet.
